THE MID-VALLEY ARTS LEAGUE was organized in the summer of 1953,
for the purposes of promoting the creative talents of its members and for
stimulating interest in the arts in San Gabriel Valley communities.

The need for an Art Association with its cultural aspects had been recognized by
many artists in this area, as none existed between Claremont and Pasadena.

The initial meeting was arranged in June of 1953, and a name was selected in
August. The first Art Festival at the West Arcadia Hub shopping area was held in
May of 1958, and the first Eastland Art Fete in July  of the same year

The League was incorporated in 1959. Shortly after the incorporation there was
a revision of the Constitution and Bylaws in order to clarify the duties of the
Officers and Board Members. As a result, reorganization of the league took place
in October 1960. The Constitution was revised again in 1994 to reflect changes
in the  makeup of the Board and to clarify ambiguous content.

THE MID-VALLEY ARTS LEAGUE, Inc., is a nonprofit organization with exciting
meetings, exhibitions, demonstrations, and critiques by outstanding artists

The League continues to provide art scholarships to outstanding San Gabriel Valley
students. Donations to the League are deductible, as provided by
Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
