    Welcome to Mid-Valley Arts League.

Incorporated in 1953, MVAL will be celebrating its 55th anniversary
this year.

Several benefits of becoming a member of MVAL are:

         • Furthering Art Education & Appreciation

         • Provide Venues to Exhibit Artwork

         • Contributing to Art Related Scholarships

Art Education & Appreciation

MVAL has general meetings open to the public that are held the third Wednesday of each month,
September through June. The meetings begin at 7:30pm at the Arcadia Presbyterian Church,
in the Fellowship Hall.

We encourage artists and those interested in art to join us. Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow
artists and learn from the variety of demonstrators who give us insight into their art and methods
and techniques. The demonstrator may be a nationally known artist, or possibly one of our own
MVAL members that is recognized as an accomplished artist and teacher.

MVAL also hosts several 3 to 5 day workshops throughout the year. Workshops are opened
to non-members as well as members. Be sure to check the annual workshop schedule
and register early!

In addition to our monthly meetings you can join the Thursday Paint-Out group and enjoy
plein air painting and lunch with fellow artists and even a friendly critique.

 Exhibitions

Each year members have the opportunity to exhibit in the MVAL Anniversary Show which is
considered one of the top art shows in the San Gabriel Valley. Each member is encourage to
submit several paintings. A well known guest artist is invited to judge the show and award
cash prizes and ribbons in various categories.

In addition to the anniversary show member artists have the opportunity to exhibit their work
at the Live Oak Community Center. The LOCC lobby and corridors serve as a great location to
display artwork.

MVAL is actively looking to increase opportunities to exhibit members artwork throughout the year.

 Scholarships

A goal of MVAL is to promote art in the local schools by giving scholarships to students who are
intending to continue their art education after high school, and to those continuing in the art field
after college. Also, many of our local high schools are in need of art supplies in order to teach
their students. MVAL gives financial support to those schools in our area.

For several years MVAL has hosted an event called "Art in the Park with the Masters."
Many professional artists are invited to come and paint outside. Tickets are sold so artists
and patrons can come watch and meet the artists at work. It's a great way to see the painting
styles of these professional artists and to get to know them. In the past we have been holding
this event at the beautiful campus of the Claremont Colleges. The funds generated from this
event go towards the MVAL scholarship program. Additional scholarship funds come from raffle
drawings at our monthly general meetings.

We look forward to seeing and meeting you at our next general meeting!
