ATA Newsletter Submission Guidelines
Deadline
Deadline for submissions is the first Wednesday of the month, at or before the board meeting. Preferred submission format is typed directly into an email with little or no formatting. Send to: janunamaker @ verizon . net Exceptions: Please submit by Thursday evening —Board member who may come up with new information in the meeting that needs to be included —The "President's Message" which may include comments or info from the meeting. —Photos of new members taken at the board meeting If your show or reception is at the beginning of the month, try to remember to get it into the newsletter the month BEFORE the event. Newsletter doesn't come out until several days after the board meeting. Frequently there are events on the first weekend of the month that do not get into the newsletter on time. Be early. I generally like to work on and complete the newsletter by Friday afternoon. This is especially important during April and May, as I am working at the Renaissance Faire on the weekends those months and any delay prevents me from getting the paper version printed over the weekend and puts mailing way behind schedule. Submissions that are received late have often caused me to have to take time to completely re-layout the newsletter at the last minute in order to fit in the new article. |
Mailing Schedule
Paper version of the newsletter, printed at FedX Office (we still do about 40 of these each month). Gets picked up on Monday, printed and mailed by Tuesday morning the week after the board meeting. Email version is sent out by Sunday night after the board meeting. Formats Please don't take the time to format your article submission — fonts, sizes, etc. In order to add your copy to the existing layout, I have to strip all of that out so that it matches the rest of the newsletter. It is a waste of your time and mine. Text submission types in order of preference: 1. Write your text directly in an email 2. Copy and paste your text directly into an email 3. Attach a word processing document to an email (Word is ok, but an extra step for both of us) Photo submission types: use email attachments 1. Make sure your photo will be 300dpi at 8" wide, so, at least 2400 pixels wide. (I can make them smaller, but I can't make them bigger.) 2. Image file type can be RAW, jpg, png 3. Do not send a scan or photograph of type (eg, show cards). Please send a pdf unless there is no other option. Cover Art I always need cover art!!! |
