Locations of MVAL Thursday in Plein Air group painting opportunities.
Meet at the designated location at 9:00am and paint till 12:00. At noon we gather for lunch and sharing of sketches and paintings. After lunch is the critique/share. The critiques are informative and instructional. In the event of rain the paint-out will be canceled. We have done our best to give accurate directions. Since we are based in San Gabriel, our directions stem from there. It is each person’s responsibility to carry a map, GPS, or double check directions. OCT 9 - Encanto Park, Duarte
751 Encanto Pkwy, Duarte, CA 91010 Take the Buena Vista St. exit off the 210 freeway heading east. Turn left onto Buena Vista then right onto Huntington Dr. Turn left onto Encanto Pkwy, in a short distance turn left into park entrance. After parking, painters can walk to a number of scenic spots along the San Gabriel River Trail just southeast of park. Optional sights can be found along Encanto Pkwy further north near Fish Canyon Road. Will meet again inside the park near museum at 12 noon. OCT 16 - Vista Hermosa Park, Los Angeles 100 N. Toluca St. Los Angeles, CA 90026 Vista Hermosa Park located not far from Echo Park at corner of Glendale Blvd & Beverly Blvd. OCT 23 - Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center, Sierra Madre 700 N. Sunnyside Ave, Sierra Madre, CA 91024 Take Michillinda Ave north to Fairview Ave. in Sierra Madre. Turn right then left onto Sunnyside Ave. Drive up through the gate entrance and up into Center. Parking east of building. OCT 30 - Michelle Lofthouse’s Autumn Leaf Farm home, Monrovia 1145 Orange Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016 Special Halloween Paintout! Park on right side of Orange St. Walk through long driveway. NOV 6 - Deukmejian Wilderness Park, Glendale 3429 Markridge Rd., Glendale CA 91214 Take the Pennsylvania Ave Exit off the 210 Frwy heading north. Turn right. Turn left onto Foothill Blvd. After heading west for two blocks turn right onto New York Ave. Head north and turn left on Markridge Rd. In short distance turn right at Deukmejian sign and follow curved road up and into park/winery. Parking lot is in front. NOV 13 - Hahamongna Watershed Park, Pasadena 4550 Oak Grove Dr., Pasadena, CA 91103 Take the 210 Frwy north. Exit 22A Berkshire Place turnoff. Turn right on Berkshire then left onto Oak Grove Dr. Follow up past high school. At intersection, turn right into park entrance and then take road left down into the lower parking area. |

Raymond Ave. Pasadena 91105 Head north along Altadena Dr. - Go pass intersection at Orange Grove Blvd. Look for small parking lot located on the right, opposite Loma Vista St. Paint views of mountain and trees near soccer field. Additional parking in large lot on Orange Grove Blvd..NOV 27 - Pasadena Memorial Park, Pasadena THANKSGIVING DAY morning 85 E. Holly St., Pasadena, CA 91103 For those who can attend - 9 to noon, meet on west side of park at the corner of Raymond and Walnut Street near the Memorial Arch of Library. Views of mountains & historic Old Town DEC 4 - Arlington Gardens, Pasadena 275 Arlington Dr, Pasadena, CA 91105 Travel south to Arlington Dr. and turn left. Park along street. Garden is on the corner of Arlington Dr. and Pasadena Ave. Portable toilet on grounds. DEC 11 -La Casitas Del Arroyo, Pasadena 177 S. Arroyo Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91105 Go thru intersection to Holly St. Turn left on S. Arroyo Blvd. Head south under bridge. Go past Westminster Dr. Find street parking near Westbridge Pl. Small building on the right. Restrooms available further down at Lower Arroyo Park near the Casting Pond. DEC 18 - Descanso Gardens, La Canada 1418 Descanso Dr. La Canada, Flintridge, 91011 Botanical garden. Opens at 9 am. Fee at entrance gate. Open to paint anywhere inside. Meet later & have lunch at patio/cafe around 12 noon. |
