Scholarships and Grants
As part of our community outreach and support of the arts, MVAL awards scholarships and grants each year to local students and Art instructors in the San Gabriel valley. Funds are raised throughout the year through monthly bonus drawings leading up to an annual silent auction and raffle at the June general meeting. Raffles and auction feature member contributed artwork, art supplies, art books and various other relevant donated items. Scholarship forms are due by March 15, 2022.

Clay Ngo is an advanced level ceramics student at Pasadena City College. His ceramic structure is entitled “Healing Fantasy.”
Gonzalo Escobar is a Studio Arts major at Pasadena City College. His painting “Halfway There” is oil on canvas, 30" x 40". Hannah Kwok is a Senior at Temple City High School. Her digital image, “Kintsugi”, highlights the beauty and similar cultural celebration between South Asian and Latino culture emphasized in jewelry and hair garments. Mihee Kim is a teacher at Temple City High School and received a grant for art materials. Public schools have suffered from budget cuts so we also encourage teachers to submit grant applications for financial need for their scholastic art programs. This year in addition to providing scholarships to three students whose work appears here, we awarded a grant to a teacher for much needed ceramic supplies. |
