Membership fees are $35 for an individual, $45 for a couple.
Membership is open to artists and art lovers of all levels and experience who are willing to creatively participate by being supportive to and supported by other artists of all levels and experience. Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of most months (we take a break in the Summertime), with board meetings being held on the 1st Wednesday of most months. Actual meeting dates are published in our beautiful and informative monthly newsletter Art & The Artist.

- Access to information on local (and far away) workshops in your preferred medium, and new friends to attend them with.
- Demonstrations of technique at every monthly meeting; not to be missed, MVAL have an excellent AV set up so you can see some masterful artwork as it is created by visiting greats and local members with intriguing ideas alike.
- Scholarship opportunities, both as a donor and recipient if necessary to facilitate workshop attendees.
- Participate in the annual MVAL Member’s Exhibit.
Open to all, this is an opportunity for even the shyest budding artist to display their work in a gallery. - Link to your personal portfolio/online gallery or web site from this site on our member’s links page.
- Regular Thursdays in Plein Air bag lunch gatherings at scheduled locations around the San Gabriel Valley, including a planned share/critique time with other artists (tba in each newsletter).
- “Colorful Elephant” opportunities at meetings, to gift, trade or sell unused art supplies or books that you no longer need.
- A vibrant and timely DVD lending library of technique and instruction video by professional artists is available at every meeting.
- Participate in our annual MVAL Saturday in the Park with the Masters as an attendee or, potentially, a Master Artist. This event is held to underwrite MVAL’s ongoing support of scholarship opportunities at local art programs and schools.
- Join the painting cooperative that MVAL sponsors on Mondays at Zamora Park Community Center in El Monte from 9:00 to 1:00. Members take turns leading the sessions. There is an annual fee based on the rate set by the City of El Monte for its facility use. There are 32 workstations, with an available waiting list when they are full. For additional information, contact MVAL with the subject “Co-op.”
