Cris Gordy’s painting inspiration comes from a childhood passion for drawing and comic books. Soon after moving to Los Angeles from Boston, Cris returned to teaching and her earlier artistic pursuits focusing on watercolors. While developing her own expressive style, Cris has studied composition with Fealing Lin and John Byram. She has been deeply influenced by Vlad Yeliseyev and Dario Percy Ccallo, and continues to study perspective with Gabriel Canteros (Argentina). Cris has been in academia all through her career and have taught different subjects to all ages. She holds degrees in Liberal Arts.
Cris got first place in the Urbanscape category at this year’s MVAL Annual Show (Juror: Kathleen Scoggin). Her work was accepted at the FabrianoInAcquarello Catalog 2019. In 2018 she got second place in the Mval show Genre category. The same year she was accepted at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society National Show (Juror: Vlad Yeliseyev). In 2017, Cris received an Honorary Award from the Valley Watercolor Society.
